Fundraising. “Asking people for money, begging for money, especially in this economy, are you kidding?” I’ll let you in on a little secret. No missionary loves fundraising. But, being a missionary is hard work and fundraising is a necessary part. But I’ll share one more secret, if God is calling you to serve on the mission field, He’s going walk the whole way with you and it’s all His money.
Our financial support comes from churches, big and small, conservative and …not so conservative. Much of our support comes from individuals and families. Some supporters are family members or lifelong friends and others that God called to give are people we never would have expected. As missionaries we feel incredibly blessed to be conduits for Christians to participate in the great commission. Asking people to support your work in Salvador is not a selfish act—you are allowing your brothers and sisters to hear God’s call to preach the good news to all nations and live generous lives.
If God is calling you to mission work, don’t be afraid. It is part of learning to trust God in a way you never have before. And God requires us only to have enough faith to take the next step.
